From negatives to online sales – the complete photo archive workflow…
InterXmedia can design and build your complete online image library – covering the whole cycle, from scanning to print sales…
A lifetime of photography is often sitting in boxes of negatives, transparencies and prints – valuable, but invisible and unsaleable until it is digitised, catalogued and put online in a form that people can find, license and buy.
- Do you have an archive of film, prints or digital files that has never been properly catalogued?…
- Are your images sitting in Lightroom (or even worse, in a box!), with no easy way of getting them out in the world?
- Would you like to sell your own prints and licences online without handing a large cut to a third-party platform?
- Are you a picture library, estate or visual artist looking for an archive you actually own and control?
What we offer

We can take on any part of the process, or all of it:
- Scanning & digitisation – negatives, transparencies and prints scanned to archival standards, with dust and damage correction where needed.
- Cataloguing & metadata – captions, keywords, dates, copyright and IPTC/XMP metadata embedded in the files so your images are searchable and properly attributed wherever they go.
- Lightroom as the master catalogue – a sensible structure, collections and workflow so the archive can keep growing without becoming unmanageable.
- Lightroom → WordPress integration – we use off-the-shelf extensions and our own specialist software tools to publishes images, captions and keywords from Lightroom directly to your WordPress site and keeps them synchronised. Edit in Lightroom; the website follows.
- WordPress website design & build – a gallery and archive site designed around your work, with fast image delivery, search and filtering, and watermarking or download control where required.
- Online print & licence sales – e-commerce for prints, downloads and licensing, with sizes, editions and pricing under your control. We can even fulfil print creation and delivery at low volume using Canon A3+ archive quality, giclée photo printing.
- Hosting & ongoing maintenance – fully managed website hosting with daily backups, updates and support on our own servers.
Who is it for?
Photographers and photojournalists, picture libraries and image archives, artists’ estates, galleries and visual artists of any kind – anyone with a body of work that deserves to be seen, found and sold. We developed the tools to enable us to manage the digital photo archive of Virginia Turbett – of music, cultural and political photography from the seventies & eighties. You can see the website at Virginia Turbett Photography.
Tools for photographers: DACS Payback
Alongside archiving, we develop tools for working photographers. One of these is our DACS Payback Assistant software, which is individually tailored to an artist and monitors UK television channel listings, flagging the programmes most likely to have featured their work. This turns the annual DACS Payback claim from guesswork into a short, evidence-based list. You can find out more about it here.
If you are setting up or managing an image library, interXmedia is your one-stop shop for consultancy, scanning services, website design & hosting, and process automation tools. We can take you all the way from startup to sales.
